Seaworth Coffee is inspired by a common love of the sea and a somewhat uncommon love of handcrafted cold-brewed coffee. Though gaining popularity on the East Coast and the Pacific North West, we couldn't find decent cold-brew in Southern California. So we set out on a mission: to create a delicious, top-quality cold brew coffee that would reflect the beautiful sunshine and good-spirit of the Golden State. So through a relentless process of experimenting with different beans, roasting methods and brewing methods, we did it. We were so passionate about this beautiful bold liquid that we had created, that we decided to give it a name that paid tribute to our favorite pastime and the rich surf culture of California.
Single Fin Sludge: a simple, honest & delicious cold-brew coffee.
The idea was born one hot sunny day in the parking lot of our favorite surf spot, and since we couldn't find a good cold-brew nearby, we found that simply pouring our hot coffee over ice left us with a harsh bitterness that we just had to fix. Our cold brew process enables us to preserve more of the coffee bean's pure, rich flavor while keeping acid content low, so you're left with a strong coffee—rich, buttery smooth "sludge" that is perfect served over ice or can even be enjoyed hot. With a caffeine content that can be almost two times higher than your average cup of Joe, it'll surely keep you going. Each cold brew batch is carefully hand-crafted and brewed in a temperature controlled environment for a full 18-24 hours, then double filtered and bottled by hand in glass—never plastic. We spare no expense in our ingredients either. Our signature blend is made of only the freshest locally roasted, hand-selected, fair-trade organic coffee beans, crystal clear, cold purified water and a whole lot of sunny California love. No unnecessary ingredients—ever. It's a painstaking process, but we're pretty sure that this will be some of the best coffee you've ever had.
We care about making the best products and making sure that we do our part to consider the environment, the health of our customers and support local businesses. Every batch is brewed and bottled by hand by us, high on the bluffs overlooking the Newport Peninsula. We purchase only organic beans from a great local craft roaster and grind them in-house just before brewing to make sure we get the absolute best flavor. We buy our glass bottles in Los Angeles (about a 40 minute drive) and have them screen printed the old-fashioned way just south of there. The bottles are then brought to our facility where they get sanitized, filled, packed and shipped - to be enjoyed soon by our loyal customers. We take great pride in using only the best natural, chemical-free organic ingredients, reusable glass packaging and in the fact that almost everything we use is sourced within 45 miles of us.
